TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The newly-built Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit, or popularly known as the Mandalika Circuit, in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has just passed the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) homologation.
The FIM field inspection team made a thorough test on November 18 and deemed the track managed by the MGPA or the Mandalika Grand Prix Association and owned by the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) is worthy of hosting the World Superbike Championship (WSBK) and other FIM international motorsport events.
MGPA president director Ricky Baheramsjah responded to the news positively on November 19. “It is our shared pride as it is a new circuit. We thank all the support that helped us achieve this.” The Mandalika Circuit was built from scratch in 14 months.
The final rounds of the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup and World Superbike races are slated to held on this circuit this weekend.
