In 2022 a total of 8.7 million vehicles traveled on the Bali Mandara Toll Board connecting Benoa-Ngurah Rai Airport and Nusa Dua.
As reported by Beritabali.com, Bali’s only paid toll road operated by PT Jasa Marga Toll said a 112% increase from the total traffic recorded in 2021 when 4.1 vehicles traveled the roadway. These numbers equate to an average of 24,000 average vehicles per day in 2022 and 11,000 average vehicles per day in 2021.
The increased traffic on the highway in 2022 does not reflect the growth compared to the pre-pandemic period of 2019.
“In 2019, the Mandara Toll recorded 16.3 million vehicles meaning 2022 traffic volume is still only 50% of levels achieved in 2019,” said I Ketut Adiputra Karang, CEO of PT Jasa Marga Bali Toll.
During the most recent year-end holidays (18 December 2022 – 03 January 2023), 655,000 vehicles traveled the tollway, representing an increase of 48% over regular daily traffic flows in mid-year 2022.
PT Jasa Marga points to the loosening government limitations on public movement (PPKM) as stimulating higher traffic levels.
