TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Bank Indonesia’s Bali representative head Trisno Nugroho expected that Bali’s economy in Q2 2022 could grow by over two percent as tourism activity is improving.

“We hope Bali’s economic growth in Q2 would rise above 2 percent after previously it grew by 1.46 percent in Q1 2022,” said Trisno Nugroho in Denpasar, Saturday, June 11.

The tourism sector, which is still the main contributor to Bali’s economic growth, is projected to be better in 2022 compared to 2021, despite it still being lower than the condition in 2019.

The central bank recorded that in May 2022, the daily average number of domestic and international tourists increased by 49 percent (mtm) and 85 percent (mtm) respectively.

The increase in domestic tourist visits to Bali was contributed by the long national holiday of Eid al-Fitr and the loosened public mobility.

Meanwhile, the increase in international tourists was due to the opening of direct international flights and the ease of policy for international travelers.

However, Trisno reminded that the global economy is still facing various challenges due to the Ukraine-Russia war that affected global economic growth.
