TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Batik Air announced that it will soon offer regular international flights connecting Bali’s I Ngurah Rai International Airport and Singapore’s Changi Airport starting in April this year.

The subsidiary of low-cost carrier Lion Air believes that this flight route will prove beneficial to a wide range of passengers.

“The inaugural flight will start in April,” said Batik Air strategic corporate communications Danang Mandala Prihantoro on February 28.

Danang said this fight will better connect general tourists or business people between the two most popular tourist destinations in Indonesia and Singapore. Direct flight effectively eliminates transit time and is time efficient for passengers.

They also stated that this flight route is backed by data from Statistics Indonesia which logged tourist visits to Bali amounting to 377,276 in February this year alone. Statistically, this number of visits is a 31.27 percent surge compared to November last year.

Batik Air also believes that this direct flight between I Ngurah Rai and Changi will better accommodate the government’s program of developing tourism and education amidst an improving pandemic situation. It is hoped to attract up to 7.4 million international tourists and 1.2 billion domestic tourists.
