Bali Officials have started to implement the Genose C-19 breath test as a Covid testing method in The I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport as of Friday (9/4).

As one of the testing methods that was invented by Professor Kuwat Triyono from Gadjah Mada University, the Genose test is claimed to have high accuracy like other Covid testing methods but with a much lower cost while also providing faster results. A line was seen around 9:00 am Friday morning at the Ngurah Rai International Airport just before services began on their first day of implementing the test.

Meanwhile The Indonesian Tourism Minister, Sandiaga Uno decided to inspect the roll out of the breath test on its first day of operation at the airport. During his visit, Sandiaga was accompanied by several airport officials such as the President Director of Angkasa Pura I Ltd, the Operational Director of Angkasa Pura I, and the Generam Manager of the Ngurah Rai Airport. Sandiaga proposed that this testing method should be implemented in several tourism villages around Bali in the future.

“I think this testing method should be implemented in several tourism villages on the island. It will also give a signal to the people that Bali tourism is ready to revive.” Sandiaga said on Friday (9/4). He is also optimistic that this implementation will give more confidence to both the visitors and the tourism businesses in Bali. He also urged the government to increase their production of the Genose C-19 test kits to supply the demand of the tourism sector in Bali. “Within the next 60 or 90 days, we plan to begin the implementation of the breath test in several tourism villages in Bali as a pilot project.” Sandiaga concluded.
